About Kristie Lynn Reighard

Kristie Reighard is a life-long resident of Northwest Ohio and is running for the State Board of Education, District 1.

Kristie graduated from Rossford High School in 1991 and the University of Findlay in 1995 where she earned her B.S. with majors in Environmental and Hazardous Materials Management and English Journalism. She also earned her M.Ed. (2000) and Ed.S. (2013) from Bowling Green State University.

Kristie has over 27 years of extensive, first-hand Ohio public education experience. From 1997-2021, she served in Ohio public schools as a substitute teacher, science instructor, and high school principal. During this time, she worked in suburban (Bowling Green), rural (Pike-Delta-York), urban (Toledo Public), and career tech (Penta Career
Center) districts. Currently, Kristie provides math and science online simulation implementation support to districts across the nation in her EdTech Senior Implementation Coordinator position at ExploreLearning.

Additionally, Kristie has been appointed or elected to other educationally-related service positions including: Ohio Teacher Leader Liaison (2020 – 2021), Science Education Council of Ohio District Director (2011-2015) and President (20216), and National Science Teachers Association Regional Conference Chair – Columbus (2016).

Kristie chose to run for the Ohio State Board of Education to ensure that all Ohio students have access to high-quality public education with exceptional educators. She states, “My own children received a stellar public education through Perrysburg Schools. After graduation, each one chose a different path to success. One enlisted
(and still serves today), one chose employment (water plant operator), and one chose further education (pharmacist). My hope is that every child in Ohio has the educational support and opportunities my own children had to lead them to become productive citizens.” While educational issues are bigger than any one person in Ohio, she hopes to use her experiences to facilitate needed change and support Ohio students, educators, and families.

Kristie resides in Swanton, Ohio with her husband, Greg, of 31 years. In her spare time, Kristie can be found in her garden, baking, or reading a book.
