Yes on Issue #1 – Defeat Gerrymandering
Ohio Ballot Measure

In Ohio currently, politicians pick their voters by drawing legislative districts that guarantee electoral victory by creating districts that are hyper-partisan for both Democrats and Republicans. Ohio is currently one of the most gerrymandered states in America. This allows politicians to pursue extreme agendas and allows radicals to be elected that do not represent all the members of their legislative districts. Some of these radical agendas include:
- attacking public schools
- passing voucher expansion
- failing to fairly fund schools
- proposing changes to curriculum
- stripping powers from the State Board of Education
- de-professionalizing the teaching profession
- attacking collective bargaining rights
- pitting parents against educators just to control the political narrative
Issue #1 is a nonpartisan solution by Ohioans for Ohioans to end partisan gerrymandering by taking politicians out of the process of drawing their own districts.
Yes on Issue #1 will allow:
- Voters to draw the lines, not politicians.
- Creates a 15-person commission to draw the lines for legislative districts = 5 Republicans, 5 Democrats, 5 Independent/Unaffiliated Voters.
- Application process to be on the commission will exclude elected officials and lobbyists. This means that we will have fair districts holding our elected officials accountable to our
needs and not the needs of deep pocketed special interests. - Educators to have real, bi-partisan partners in the Ohio General Assembly and Congress to work on legislation to strengthen and protect public education and collective bargaining
rights.
